Recoaro Terme
Recoaro Terme is a Venetian municipality in the province of Vicenza, although it is geographically much closer to the regional border with Trentino-Alto Adige, just a few kilometers away. The town of Recoaro is famous throughout Italy for its unique mineral waters, particularly the oligomineral Lora, which is also commercially marketed. The other mineral waters have been used in the Fonti Centrali thermal baths since their discovery in 1689.
Recoaro is situated at the bottom of a valley shaped like a basin called the Conca di Smeraldo, located in the Alta Valle dell’Agno region. Recoaro Terme is located at an average altitude of 400-500 meters, at the foothills of the Piccole Dolomiti (Small Dolomites).
The thermal complex of Recoaro Terme is set within a natural park spanning approximately 220,000 square meters and consists of buildings of significant historical and artistic interest.
Properties of the Waters of Recoaro Terme
Recoaro Terme utilizes a total of five thermal springs:
Lelia, Amara, Lorgna, and Nuova are mineral waters recommended for the treatment of digestive system disorders due to their choleresis-stimulating properties. They are also used to restore liver function in cases of hepatic steatosis, acute hepatitis, and hepatotoxicity. These waters are employed in post-surgical convalescence to aid in hydro-saline balance and combat anemia, thanks to their significant iron content. They are also used to address hematochemical imbalances in athletes following particularly strenuous muscular exertion.
Lora, an oligomineral water well-known for its commercial bottling, has a strong diuretic effect and is highly effective in the treatment of urinary tract calculi and their recurrences. It is prescribed for managing metabolic dysfunctions with increased urea accumulation.
